You can set off the firecrackers, TNTs and bombs either by swapping them with a neighboring item or double-tapping on them. You only have a limited number of moves in which you have to achieve your goal. You can retry a level if you can’t manage to achieve the goal within the given number of moves. However, you will lose a life doing this. There are five lives in total which refill after every thirty minutes.

In this match-3 game, you get to create larger explosions by swapping two firecrackers or two bombs with each other or swapping a bomb with a firecracker. Each time you make an explosion, a meter located on the bottom-left corner of the screen fills up. When this meter is full, it will appear on the field and grant you the chance to swap it with an item and remove all the items of its type from the field. Gardenscapes – New Acres also provides you with different boosters as well that can help you in completing the harder levels. You can unlock these boosters by clearing levels.

Gardenscapes follows a story format. Each time you clear a level and earn coins and a star, you can proceed with the storyline. The stars are used for performing different renovation tasks that are located in the to-do list on your tablet. The coins, on the other hand, are used for buying different items for the garden or getting more moves if you are unable to clear a level in the given number of moves.
